Sit2Go Flexispot 2 in 1 fitness chair – Review
Let’s face it, a lot of us still work from home, and during the warmer months (if you’re in a four-season climate) it’s easy to get outside to exercise and keep moving, but what about the colder days ahead? Or when you can’t find enough time to get away from your desk and the life of back-to-back Zoom calls?
Some places still require masks in gyms, which frankly sounds as appealing as hanging out with a pack of ferrets. We ended up getting an elliptical trainer, and when we can motivate ourselves, it does a really good job in the heaviest workouts, but something like the Sit2Go 2-In-1 Fitness Chair fills this great spot to help you get started. push it a step further with your calories burned daily.
We got our hands on one of these babies and tested it in a variety of situations, at a desk, in front of the TV, and outside on our patio. Here’s what we thought:
Get it / build it
The chair comes packaged in a filing cabinet-sized box and weighs around 30 lbs all wrapped up, but was fairly easy to transport and cross in the back of an SUV. The shipping was also super fast. From order to arrival, it was about a week, and it’s remarkable considering what’s going on in the world right now.
The chair and its components are neatly packaged and easy to remove from the carton, and the total construction time was approximately 15 minutes. The instructions were easy to follow, the screws and threads were well machined, and they included the necessary tools. So overall the whole process of transferring from the box to the home was easy.
Build quality and comfort
For a chair that costs around $ 400, you get what you pay for; the construction is sturdy, the components are quality, and this bike / chair feels like it will last and give you minimal hassle.
The chair features a mesh backrest that provides support and a breathable surface. So when you start pushing it during a heated zoom call, you stay comfortable and in control.
The seat cushion has a leather-like cover with enough firmness to support you but remains comfortable while sitting or pedaling. Combined with two easy adjustment mechanisms (seat height and forward / backward positioning), you can connect quickly.
There is a button centered in the base that controls resistance and moves quickly to increase / decrease the intensity of your workout. There is also a simple LCD screen that allows you to monitor distance and calories burned. However, we’re assuming that you probably want to have a Fitbit or Apple Watch to validate this data – but it’s good to have a quick glance to see how much of that craft beer you just burned during Ted Lasso. The pedals are also incredibly quiet and almost impossible to hear unless you really listen to them. Chances are you will find the rider’s growls and moans more annoying than any noise the bike itself makes.
The last is the ease of moving this chair around the house from room to room. The chair comes with a high quality set of casters and easily rolls around our downstairs as we use it in the kitchen during the day and in the living room at night while watching TV.
Should I get it?
This chair is for people who want to add an extra layer to their fitness routine which is easy to manage and doesn’t require a lot of motivation. Please consider this the glitter on top of your workout; it’s a great way to have something in your home with a dual purpose that allows you to burn extra calories when you might otherwise be sedentary on the couch.
We found it very easy to watch TV for an hour while doing a moderate rotation which ends up burning around 200 extra calories at the end of the day rather than just sitting there. It’s also a great way to do a workout at your desk if you can’t get away from it all during the work day; if you are always moving and standing and moving regularly, this is the best thing to do.
Summary: It’s the perfect companion for busy people trying to manage their weight and fitness. It’s easy to do, and the chair itself is comfortable, can be used in a variety of places, and doubles as an office chair when not in use, which is highly recommended.
