Town of Wauwatosa: Overview of the programs for the week of November 15

The Committee of the Whole will hear an update from the police department on the implementation of the report from the Center for Public Security Management. The municipal council will hold a public hearing on the proposed new neighborhoods and aldermen districts.

This week’s topics at city meetings include:

  • Board of Public Works (November 15, 8:30 a.m.) will discuss an encroachment request by the Mandel Group for the construction of a dumpster enclosure and retaining wall at 10460 W. Innovation Drive, a request Milwaukee County Transit System to install new signage for Highway 31 through the village of Wauwatosa, and approve plans for the Blanchard Street Pumping Station Modification Project.
  • The Council of Parks and Forestry Commissioners (November 16, 7:30 a.m.) will discuss park improvement projects, volunteer coordination, a presentation of a master plan for the proposed 116th Street park, the potential change in reservation and use policies for 69th Street plaza, potential recommendation for changes to park policies, and potential approval of a user agreement for Milwaukee Torrent’s use of Hart Park Stadium in 2022 .
  • Committee of the Whole (Nov. 16, 6:30 p.m.) will hear an update from the police department on the implementation of the Public Security Management Center report.
  • The municipal council (November 16, 7:30 p.m.) will hold a public hearing on the new neighborhoods and aldermen districts. They will also discuss:
    • removal of parking to add bicycle lanes on N. 68th Street between Honey Creek Parkway and Wisconsin Avenue
    • a conditional use permit at 6538 W. North Avenue for a restaurant establishment (Delicious Bites)
    • a division of land via a certified survey map at 10701 Research Drive
    • setting a public hearing date for December 21, 2021 to consider amending parts of Section 24.01.110E – Zoning Map, Divided Parcels
    • set a date for a public hearing of December 21, 2021 to consider amending parts of section 24.16.010 providing for the withdrawal of zoning applications by applicants before final decisions
    • approving the 2022-2023 health insurance claims management contract
    • approve the 2022 dental insurance contract with Humana
    • approve the Stop Loss insurance contract with Voya
    • approving the TID 6 budget adjustment and a contract with Prism Technical relating to the development of the Irgens commercial building
    • approve the operating and capital budgets for 2022
    • approve the 2022-2026 Capital Improvement Plan
    • approve the contract with the Association of Professional Fire Fighters of Wauwatosa Local 1923 for 2021 to 2023
    • an ordinance to reflect the new districts and boroughs aldermen
    • a resolution opposing 2021 Assembly Bill 610 and directing staff to communicate their opposition to lawmakers, the governor and others
    • a resolution supporting the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s request for a Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvement Program grant to study rail corridor safety along the Canadian Pacific Railway corridor from 63rd Street N to the west end of the Harmonee Bridge parking lot
    • an encroachment for the construction of a dumpster enclosure and retaining wall at 10460 W. Innovation Drive

Meeting format

The Common Council passed a resolution to have hybrid city meetings. This means that elected officials and the public can attend in person or virtually, under a few conditions: universal use of the mask, physical distancing, staying at home in case of illness and a virtual option for those at high risk.
