Although the main reason you buy a heater is to keep you toasty warm, you’re also going to pay a lot of attention to it. If you love being surrounded by beautiful things and love mid-20th century aesthetics, you’ll love the Vornado VHEAT Whole Room Vintage Heater.
Of course, that wouldn’t be one of our best radiators unless it also delivered on its promise to heat an entire room. If you want to know more about it, read our in-depth Vornado VHEAT Whole Room Vintage Heater review.
Vintage Vornado VHEAT Whole Room Heater Review: Pricing and Availability
The Vornado VHEAT Vintage Whole Room Heater is available at Amazon for $160 and kohls for $170. It comes in seafoam green and white.
Vintage Vornado VHEAT Whole Room Heater Review: Design
The Vornado VHEAT Whole Room Vintage Heater is beautifully crafted to resemble a mid-20th century fan. It looks particularly retro in the seafoam green colourway. With its all-metal construction, it’s a sturdy unit that sits solidly on the floor. The head can be tilted to change the direction it blows hot air.
This heater is small at 8.7 X 9 X 13.7 inches, but not compact and it doesn’t have a handle. However, at just 10 pounds, it’s not too heavy to move around. In terms of controls, there’s a simple toggle switch with two heat settings and a thermostat dial numbered 1-10. It automatically shuts off if it tilts or overheats to prevent fires.
Vornado VHEAT Whole Room Vintage Heater Review: Heating Performance
The Vornado VHEAT Whole Room Vintage Heater was able to raise the temperature evenly in a 10 x 15 foot room by about 4°F on its high heat setting. Although it’s not a standout performance, you can rotate the head to direct warm air towards your lounge chair or work area for more direct heating. It used less power than most other heaters we tested – using an average of 0.26kWH.
When running at high temperatures, it was one of the noisiest heaters we tested, with a noise level of 59.6 dBa, the equivalent of an electric toothbrush. Its surfaces get hotter than room temperature, but at a maximum of 90°F, nowhere near high enough to pose a burn hazard.
Vornado VHEAT Whole Room Vintage Heater review: Ease of use
With only low and high heat settings and a thermostat dial to regulate the heat, the VHEAT is extremely easy to use. However, it doesn’t come with a remote, so you’ll have to get up to turn it off or adjust the heat.
It can be easily cleaned with the brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner. Although it’s not a large space heater, it does have an awkward shape, so it won’t fit neatly in a closet.
Vintage Vornado VHEAT Whole Room Heater Review: Verdict
We think the Vornado VHEAT Whole Room Vintage Heater is the best heater you can buy if you care about looks as well as performance. With just two adjustments, it’s extremely easy to use, and it’s small and light enough to move from area to area without too much difficulty.
The only major downside is that it’s a little louder than most and much more expensive than other heaters which heat just as efficiently. If you care about heating performance above all else, we suggest the Lasko FH500 instead. As a winning space heater, it heated the same space at the same time by 10°F.
